The '67-'72 #Chevy & GMC trucks aren't quite as omnipresent as their 1970s Ford counterparts, but that's mainly because the 5th gen F-series (also offered from 1967 to 1972) looks almost identical to the 6th gen, offered from 1973-1979, so it can appear at a glance like there are many more Fords than GM products in these years. In reality, Chevy and GMC sold almost as many as Ford, and the trucks are common even now almost everywhere in North America. Common enough, in fact, to be a popular platform for building custom trucks - possibly the most popular classic "sport truck" (a term that did not really exist when they were new) around. The cavernous engine bay of the "Action Line" trucks was designed to hold big blocks, although many were built with small blocks and even 250-cube sixes, so there's almost no limit to what can fit in there. The first #bigblock, the #396, was added in 1968, and in time the 402 was added as well. The trucks came on two wheelbases, 115" and 127", with the short-bed trucks being the obvious choice for people who want to build for speed - they weight about 300-400 lbs. less on average. The models were simple on the consumer oriented trucks, C/10, Custom/10, and CST-10 for the top spec. These changed with a mid-cycle refresh in 1971, but in  1970 CST-10's were the peak - and many were loaded with options, though it's hard to know what this one looked like from the factory since it's been updated. Few were stepsides, although the shortie #stepside was about as popular as the short fleetside, the lwb stepper was a real rarity.
