different person here; im also fairly new to hockey (the hockey came before the willmack for me tho) i just wanna say

the hockey is very essential to their characterisations and dynamics, they don't really make sense without the hockey of it all

that is the case for a lot of sports RPF but for them specifically, they are as close as they are because they're both capital F freaks about hockey to a degree where other professional hockey players are like, damn those guys are crazy (will just hides it better but there's a bunch of evidence hes just as crazy about hockey as mack)

so if you're interested in exploring their dynamic more, i would recommend spending some time getting into the hockey of it all as well, watch some games, watch some hockey psychology video essays (there's a good one focussed on mack to start off with) and read some of the many great analyses of their games and their connection to hockey and the hockey pipeline that can be found all over various willmack centric blogs

hiiii!! because i am just a girl who likes to write and has recently discovered the fandom :)) i promise i am not trying to upset anyone by writing about them! i am definitely open to learning more about hockey (and as a newbie i know it is much more than the boy aquarium), especially if i'll be writing more about them and to make everything as accurate as possible.

i can feel where you are coming from, as a long islander the isles fandom (and a few rangers fans here and there) is huuuuuge where i'm from and can understand that the love for the sport and the favorite teams go back for generations. along with an american flag and a mets flag (which is changed out seasonally depending on the sport), one of my best friends has an isles flag flying in her backyard!

i will 100% write this at some point! the reason i am saying "at some point" vs getting to this prompt (by the way, anon you are so descriptive I absolutely love that!!! thank you :)) right away is because i literally know nothing about hockey (as I was reading this i asked myself, "who is delly") and the other sharks players and all of the nhl and such, and need to educate myself on more than will and mack and the elevated cupcake experience, bratlin celebrini, and will's broken windshield. but i digress!! this fic will just come out a little later than the other ones as i need to learn more, but i promise it will be worth the wait :))

Def didnt mean it in a mean way. Just want to spread the word abt hockey since its literally the best sport ever and theres so many other players you might be interested in (check out connor bedard or juraj slafkovsky, u might like them) And the sharks definetly arent the best team btw! So i recommend researching more than just mack and will.
