Cissus discolor is my renewed favorite. It simply makes me, “completely and perfectly and incandescently happy”. I’m obsessed with it. The plant pictured here isn’t mine—but this image currently is MY phone’s locked screen pic. 😉 The two Cissus discolor plants I have are small specimens (photos pending). One has already hit its stride and growing rapidly. As a member of the grapevine family, it has small tendrils to coil itself up trellises, poles, etc. It’s fantastic when growing in hanging baskets too. My grow room is south-facing, ranging from 68-72 degrees Fahrenheit, between 60-70% humidity. These conditions are great for most tropical plants, and this one is no exception. Avoid direct sun to prevent scorching; bright indirect light is best. Strikingly exotic and colorful plants, with pearlescent silver-toned patterns on green leaves with burgundy undersides, Cissus discolor likes to be evenly moist, but not soaking wet. Mild soil surface dryness is okay, and completely drying out will cause defoliation. Native to southeast Asia and Australia they’re not rare, but definitely uncommon houseplants plants. I ordered mine from @etsy.
