Rescue Me|| Lime&Jia
Tired. Tired and defeated. Tired and on the verge of death. No matter which way Lime tried to phrase how she felt the end result was always the same. Tired. She was tired of feeling empty inside, even from before she had this odd, empty feeling in her chest which could only be filled, if partially, by the presence of certain people. The presence of one. How many days had it been since she left the circus? How many days since she had returned? All concept of time and space had left the girl as she felt her body throb, numb with aches and pains yet at the same time every sense was heightened. It was cold. So cold. Yet her body was wrapped in blankets she only just found the strength to pull out from under the cot. Her eyes saw things which did not exist, or which no longer existed. How many times had Tao, Hyori, Min and GaIn walk into the tent, walk around and then leave? Did they not notice her?
She even saw Zelo's shadow walk around her tent, sitting before her desk, smiling, mouth moving as if she was talking and yet no sound came out. Lime's brain could not register that these images were hallucinations, created by her angry mind to taunt her further, to blame her and punish her for where she had failed. Those she wanted to see most would come in and ignore her, ignore her presence and her ever having existed. The worst punishment for the blonde. All she had ever wanted was to be important to at least one person, all she ever longed for was to remain in somebody's memory for all eternity. Lime was terrified of being alone and yet here she was, lying, near dying, on the bed whilst her mouth feebly called out the names of those she saw.
Her strength was slowly returning and then quickly depleting once more, an unknown entity within her body demanding that all energy be directed to it. She couldn't remember the day when she had realised what was growing inside her, just the fear she felt. Lime's body was not the host of a beautiful life form, but a malevolent parasite determined to cause pain, suffering and eventually death. Lime would have been able to heal herself had her attention not been so quickly diverted to the man bleeding on the ground. The man, one of the many freaks within the circus she had sworn to protect. Lime didn't even know if he was truly dead yet, or still soaking the ground with his blood, Min clinging onto him as she wondered where the healer had disappeared to. Lime had let them both down. Lime had left them both behind.
What she needed to give her that boost, that extra bit to put her back in the positive, stood taunting her from the top of her medicine cabinet. Something special she had discovered and created many years ago with the help of the nuns, her family. Yet no matter how much she begged for it, reached out and tried to grasp it, she couldn't get it. She wasn't blessed with telekinetic powers like Min nor could she find the strength to stand up to walk over and get it.
Lime could hear her watch ticking away on the desk, counting down the seconds until she finally passed from this world. How long would it take for someone to find her rotting corpse in the medicine tent? As long as it took someone to need a fix or cure a headache. A small, bitter chuckle left her mouth, at the rate people in the circus tended to injure themselves she knew it wouldn't take long. At least she could have her funeral whilst she was still fresh. But would they even bury her? How important did you need to be in the circus to warrant a burial, a service which would undoubtedly bring unwanted attention from the regular citizens.
Then, she hoped, they would at least leave her body in a place of beauty, so part of her could find some peace.
