In HBP, Draco befriends Moaning Myrtle. Muggle born Myrtle Warren. Draco knew that the first time the chamber of secrets was opened a muggle born died (though his terms were much worse). You can't tell me he was daft enough to never figure out that's the girl killed by the basilisk.
