@cipherpol yes exactly!!! even as the person reaching out I feel much more comfortable being like "this is not to anyone in particular but if anyone is online and free and want to engage w/ me on this cursed object I'm about to drop into the chat feel free" and usually there IS
@basileus š¤š¤š¤ tbh I'd be fascinated to send out a survey to people who are not engineers bc my social circles are def skewed heavily toward other socially awkward nerds lmfao
I also love calling people while I'm cooking or commuting or doing something kind of mindless! for me it's the ideal solution for "I have a TODO list of a million things to do but I still want to catch up and hear your voice, plus spending time together while doing boring domestic things instead of making it a Whole Big Event every time is a form of intimacy for me" and thankfully a lot of my friends and family are cool with this but I have learned that that is definitely not everyone's thing??
like I suggested this as a compromise with the last person I dated bc we were long distance-ish and they weren't satisfied with the amount of time I was spending with them but they got super upset at me bc they felt like I was treating them as an afterthought to the other thing I was multitasking withāwhich I guess they were valid to feel that way but it just super didn't mesh with my lifestyle or communication preferences š¤·
