ciontach liked this for a starter.
"You know, I almost miss those days sitting around a campfire." It was much like the current moment, a warm fire, a bit of rum and nothing much in either direction. Quiet. The only thing missing was the sound of waves and one other thing. "But this, this will do."

My muse’s reaction to yours tracing one of their scars.
Theo had to admit - he missed his hair. The mountains surrounding Skyhold were so much colder with bare ears and only shaved fuzz to cover his head. It had not become an uncommon occurrence for Hawke to constantly touch it, be it to simply ruffle his prickly layer that remained or to pick fun at his choice to shed his previous life through such a dramatic demonstration. Either way, he hardly batted an eye at the gesture until one particular instance. Her hand was not heavy or playful, but instead gentle and soft. Fingers lingered on his head where they settled on smoothing over a thin patch of skin where nothing grew.
Why? He didn’t rightly know…but he allowed her to do as she wished. The elf simply sat contently, staring into the fire as his friend brushed over his scalp. There were plenty of things that could have been going through her mind behind such a simple action, but his own thoughts fell back to the origin of that particular scar.
Battling bloodmages. The very ones that had taken Amelia from her. An abomination had exploded and sent him flying. Cracked his skull like a melon against the cave wall…any head injuries the rogue had sustained in his years of battle had always been conveniently hidden beneath his long, dark hair. Their remnants had only recently come to light once all of it was chopped off.
If Fae truly knew the significance of such a thing was beyond him, but the inkling alone gave him pause. In attempts to pry the Champion away from the potential places her thoughts could have been wandering, his own fingers raised to wrap around hers before tugging at her arm in a gesture to sit beside him. “Oy, why so interested in that one? Do you remember the time that bloke stabbed me right in the bum? I’d hope so, you were the one that had to stitch it up." A laugh left his somewhat forced smile as he handed off his bottle of rum. They had plenty of time to wallow in their griefs - he would help put off such things as long as he could manage. Maker knew she’d already suffered enough.
"The mabari was vomiting /everywhere/, Anders. I can hardly be held responsible that your manifesto was the closest thing to clean it up with."
At least she kept it on hand …
No! He was not going to think of his work like that. That manifesto represented too many things that were important to the mage. It deserved a lot more respect from him, especially since no one else seemed to care.
“Really? You had nothing better to clean it with. You have a mansion all to yourself that’s kept spotless. Is it my manifesto that keeps it so clean then? Since you seem to lack proper cleaning equipment, one has to wonder.”
Arms crossed over his chest, he shot the rogue a dirty look. Every word spoken dripping with venom.
“I am glad you showed me that you think highly of my work. It’s a true comfort to know that my call for freedom is good enough to clean up a pet’s vomit.”
Resisting to urge to say anything else, Anders spun on his heel and left. Stomping away from the Champion before anger got the better of him. She was not worth the frustration.

Send me a ❅ and I will generate a number (1-35) for what my muse will say to yours (winter/holiday related).
22. It’s the most wonderful time of the year!
"Fae, it's snowing." Sparrow chirped at the entrance to the tent. Just a light dusting was on the ground but the small flakes foretold of a lengthy threat. Especially so close to the coast it would bound to become pure ice.
She sighed and popped her head back inside to begin wrapping a couple of furs around her feet to stuff into her boots. It was going to be one of those days. Once the other began to stir, she spoke again. "I remember when people would say the first snow was the most wonderful day of their year. Those people don't know what it's like." But for the first year in many, there was someone else to take care of. Sparrow hadn't lost this friend, unlike every other person she came close to.
What do you think Marjolaine would think of Leliana's progress as a person? How she has changed for better and worse?
{ I honestly doubt Marjolaine would be surprised at all; she knew what Leliana could become only from what she saw those first years. I don’t think Marjolaine ever thought Leliana would change her path completely, because she knew how much she enjoyed their lifestyle. I do think she would be saddened to some degree by Leliana’s stoicism, but ultimately proud. Maybe envious? And frightened, as she was before Leliana joined the Chantry at all. Her turn to the faith I’m pretty sure Marjolaine would understand as a ruse entirely. Especially after she left the Chantry; of course paranoia steered that as much as any belief she had of Leliana’s personality. }
Champion,
As you are well aware, tensions are rising--Kirkwall is not alone in its struggles or its plight. There are, however, much larger players in this strategic game of chess than you may realize, and I have only recently come to learn that you are, indeed, at its centre. The contained civil war you face is not the first or last one that you will endure or, but such issues span far larger than the concerns of your City of Chains.
As the eye of this perpetual storm we face, you must in turn weather it or assist in unraveling the dangers and repercussions that will come with time. Like with anything there are consequences; there is danger and risks that must be taken, but I am certain that you are key in the chaos that is to come.
In attempt to persuade you, do know that I am very much aware of your trek into the Vimmark Mountains, I know what you found there, of the part you played, and its conclusion. But it has also come to my attention that certain things can no longer be found. I believe that its absence not only affects myself, but many others including those close to you just as well.
The core of what I desire from you cannot be disclosed within this letter, nor can it be revealed to you immediately. I am aware that I ask much from you while offering so little in return, however I'm certain that were you to accept something so obscure, it would not be the first or last time. I implore that you consider co-operation, and whatever relevant information you give me, I will offer the same boon the best I am able in return. Consider a potential alliance, or perhaps an ally with a mutual concern--one that has not yet been solved.
Do reply in time to the address enclosed. Should I receive a satisfactory response from you in the days that are to come, a new drop-off location will be attached within the next correspondence. I will be in contact with you again in the near future.
- M.
