Alright sooo- I've seen quite a few people in the fandom ship them and tbh I don't really see anything that would make me ship them but it's got a quite unique vibe that's somewhat appealing. Not against the ship but also it's very ehhhhh to me I really don't see any way it could work lol

(also quick disclaimer: when I say I ship hnk gems it's not really in the way that I'd ship idk. Two humans yknow? Since the gems have no real concience of what a sexual relationship is and they kind of act in this big family way it feels weird to "romantically" ship them in canon as it kinda feels incest-y so I guess it's just- very close familial bond I guess? Even closer than with other gems I suppose /human au and other kinds of aus are different though/)

they are cute and they have a funny dynamic, so here’s some fluff:

shops for groceries: Dia used to, but they would gradually push Cinnabar to go out more and help with the errands, so now it’s kind of half and half, Dia is still super proud whenever they come back from work and notice that Cinnabar has shopped for groceries, but they are very subtle about it because they know that too much attention would embarrass Cinnabar

kills the spiders: both of them, although Cinnabar can handle even cockroaches, Dia is still impressed

comes home drunk at 3am: Cinnabar because they are a disastrous human being with zero sense of self preservation, at first Dia scolds them, then they take pity on Cinnabar’s eyebags and drunk gloominess and cuddles them until they Cinnabar whispers a promise not to do it ever again

makes breakfast: Dia, because Cinnabar’s sleeping schedule still needs... adjustments, and they still think that 2pm is a reasonable hour to get up in the morning

remembers to feed the fish: Cinnabar, they keep a very colorful aquarium with lots of tropical fish, like an angelfish that reminds them so much of Diamond that they started calling it ‘Dia,’ the real Dia pretends that they don’t know

decorates the apartment: both, they are always coming home with new and cute things to hang around the house. Dia crowded their small apartment with plants and flowers, while Cinnabar keeps buying jigsaw puzzles strictly over 1k pieces, they have run out of space on the walls to hang them

initiates duets: Dia of course, then Cinnabar corrects them when they get the lyrics wrong, so Dia asks them to explain where they made the mistake and this is the story of Dia’s secret plan to get Cinnabar to sing
