ALIVE
seriously. The 48 hr film project is one of the times when I feel most alive. Mostly because there is no time to think, no time for anxiety or second guessing. You have an idea. You say yes, or you say no, but you do it quickly because you have to say yes to the next one. It is action. It is carrying the glass top of your coffee table up and down the stairs because you don't have the time or the money to find a real glass desk. You're forced to be resourceful and to make decisions. If your first try doesn't work out, you come up with a back up plan. You can be disappointed that something didn't work out but only for a second because you've got to move on to plan B. You try things you're not sure you can do. You piss your friends off and they piss you off but you forget all about it because you're laughing hysterically at something else 5 minutes later. There's no time for a grudge. You do something small. You do your part. You trust the people around you to do their part too. And it all turns into a film. And when your head finally hits the pillow on Sunday night after you hand over your finished product...you sleep. Boy, do you ever sleep. I'm not sure I've ever slept so well.
