Recently I saw an adaptation of the Libation Bearers and the scene of Kilissa mourning Orestes was truly touching to me. I like to think about that scene sometimes, it's a nice little frame of domestic life inserted in such a tragedy.
It reminded me of Euripides in a way, especially her lamenting how her nursing of Orestes was all for nothing- it's been a while since I've read Euripides but if I'm not wrong certain mother charatcers lament their loss of their child by saying how all it was for nothing (I think I'm referring to Hecuba and Megara, but I could be totally wrong and misremembering. Maybe Medea as well? I really have no clue unfortunately)
I can't remember anything for Sophocles at all I'm sorry i really meed to grab a good translation and read some of his tragedies again.
