It’s July! Happy Canada Day! And with a new month, comes a new “Cigar Of The Month”!! The 31 days of July 2015 will be set ablaze by the Drew Estate MUWAT “Kentucky Fire Cured”. Drew Estate isn't known for making conventional cigars. Many of their cigars demonstrate founder Jonathan Drew's determination to break the mold when it comes to producing cigars. Prime example: My Uzi Weighs a Ton's Kentucky Fire Cured. This project was born when Drew and Steve Saka put a Kentucky fire-cured leaf on top of a Liga Privada cigar and were taken by the potential of the unique leaf. Fire-cured tobacco is produced by burning a variety of woods; hickory, oak and maple in the case of the KFC, inside the tobacco curing barns for several days or weeks to cure the tobacco and to infuse the primings with smoky, peaty flavors. It took Drew Estate a lot of trial and error over the course of 2 and 1/2 years to finalize the blend and polish the use of fire-cured tobacco in a premium cigar, but in the end they perfected it!
