like, yesterday, i finished this little number of a scribble for an alternate universe i always come back to where donny&ellie didn't transition, this scenario giving us Hot Mama Maggie:

also crawling back to universes of time loops (a la palm springs style) or accidental time travel (because something based on where did the party go? fall out boy has been stuck in my brain for MONTHS) which. i feel like have similar energies, including any weirdness or whatever, and i really want to explore either or both possibilities but i haven't yet found the brain power to execute any of my palm springs notes from the other month.

and at large, i've been listening to my cinematic playlist for the canon universe again, which i'm always like 'do i REALLY need a playlist separate to donny's playlist?' but i'm realizing that yes i DO need it because it adds so much nuance. including realizing the depth of parallels between joseph falling for & trying to get with marian and donny doing the same with ellie. like they both fall so hard and they're so dramatic about it – which is real of them but also it's not that serious... also also, circling back to MILF maggie, i realized yesterday that in the case of that AU, northern attitude noah kahan – which is on the cinematic canonverse playlist as a 'grieving donny trying to be comforting to a grieving joseph' thing – is probably like a. later reality thing for the AU. as in sticking to the original meaning of the song in like. getting older, losing your way, etc etc being more central to the AU if it's Maggie, and even Eli, starting to fall into a rut while getting older and watching the kids (who i feel stick pretty close to canon because i love those kiddos heart emoji) go off to college and all meaning that. she loves her life and loves eli but finally having an empty nest after all that time invested in those kiddos would probably produce the same sort of lost feeling that Donny has for a while leading up to the start of canon up till having been with ellie for like a year. not that donny in canon wouldn't/won't get depressed in canon once the kids are leaving the nest, but it's different sorts of tones to it happening to him and it happening to Maggie.
