Release of the Day: SHIP THIEVES - “Irruption” (Chunksaah) Don’t say anything about Hot Water Music... Don’t say anything about Hot Water Music... Don’t say... arrrrrrrrrg, I can’t! C’mon man, Chris Wollard is on vox, and he’s got as distinctive a punk rock voice as any, and there’s just no missing it. The rest of the crew is well-versed in driving guitars, stretched out melodies, and, and finding a locked-down groove (”Ghost Face” grabs from the start). At this point, I can’t be bothered by what the Hot Water Music tree looks like - different branches for The Draft, solo efforts, whatever you want to call Ship Thieves, it’s all great and however these guys want to work together (or not), then so be it, just don’t let them stop putting out great songs.
