CHUNCHON RESTAURANT

     Chunchon Restaurant is one of the most famous cafes around the University Belt for its great food and ambiance. Chunchon is specifically located at 1139 GM Tolentino, Casa Ysabel Building, Sampaloc, Manila (near UST and FEU, I guess?) so expect that the place will always be packed with Thomasians and Tamaraws!

     I’ve been already hearing about the place last year but I didn’t bother to drop by yet for I was still back in high school and that time my freedom to explore wasn’t on my side. Though I heard good feedback towards the place before and I must say, they’re quite right for Chunchon Restaurant is a nice place!

     Chunchon Restaurant offers a wide variety of meals, snacks and beverages which the cost is very student-friendly. House meals such as Beef Tapa, Crispy Danggit, Friend Chicken and the such ranges from 95 pesos to 125 pesos. While pastas, burgers, sandwiches, desserts and pica’s ranges from 125 pesos to 330 pesos (which is the Evil Burger, it’s the burger with black buns and it is ridiculously huge). 

      For coffee and frappe lovers, Chunchon is good place to go for they have one of the most delicious frappes that I ever had, and it is cheap! For coffee, everything is at 110 pesos while Teas are 110 pesos for the regular size while 120 pesos for the venti size. Frappes are at 130 and 140 pesos. Their bestseller for the frappe is the Java Chip frappe but personally, my favorite is the Milkyway Cappuccino (it is the photo above) because it doesn’t have this “nakakasuya feels”. 

     In terms of the actual place, I do recommend Chunchon Restaurant for students who likes to spend hours just sitting with friends and enjoying good food. The place doesn’t have chair for Chunchon is somehow comparable to Amo Yamie Crib’s bunk-bed style but Chunchon Restaurant has a more favorable ambiance. The only thing that concerns me is that at times, the place does smell like feet for they require their customers to remove their shoes and of course, it cannot be avoided to have a smell like that. The bunks that are close to entrance are a bit hot as well especially when it’s noon time, you’ll probably be irritated of the worst combination of noise and heat.

It's not often do we come across a restaurant/cafe with a weird name. Most of the places we know are named depending on the food they sell or the layout of their store. And just a few days ago, I encountered a place named Chun Chon. 

Doesn't sound like a good place to eat right? I've heard my friends talk about it but I never really thought it was a restaurant. Haha! But as soon as I entered the place, the first word that came in to my mind was "Cozy". It was a place where you can fill up a hungry tummy and chill with your friends at the same time. The layout of the place looked more like a cafe than a restaurant. It can be both though, since they offer restaurant food and cafe drinks.

If I'm gonna rate their food, it'd be 4.5/5. Layout 4.7/5. Service 3.5/5. But over all, I enjoyed my stay with my two gals. If you want to chill, Chun Chon is a place to be.
