One year ago today, Tennessee Titans Defensive Coordinator, and all around legend Chuck Cecil gave officials the bird. It wasn’t the first time a coach flipped off the zebras. It wasn’t even the first time the Hawaiian Peace Sign appeared from the Titans organization (owner Bud Adams is also a fan of the one-fingered salute). At the time, the Titans had the No. 1 red zone offense in the NFL. The D had given up only two touchdowns through 3.5 games and wasn’t about to allow one despite the Broncos sitting first and goal at Titans’ five yardline. After both Titans defensive ends were drawn offsides, the refs called a neutral zone infraction on Jason Babin, and then Cecil let the bird out of its cage. Though it’s flight lasted only a moment, Cecil released the bird with great accuracy. The dirty bird cost Chuck $40,000. The man of few words has always let his actions on the field do his talking. And that day one year ago was no different—it was picture perfect.
