The Chrysler Building The classic building was seen from the northwest corner of the New York Public Library (looking eastward along 42nd Street). Another landmark, Grand Central Station, lies between where I was standing and the Chrysler—in my mind, this is the center of the universe.

Helicopter passenger service on the roof of the Pan Am Building, 1964. The helipad operated from 1965 to 1968, allowing New Yorkers to fly right into midtown. It briefly reopened in 1977 but after a sideways landing killed five including one woman at street level who was struck by a rotor blade, the helipad was retired and company went out of business. 😳 #panam #panambuilding #metlifebuilding #chryslerbuilding #midtown #helicopter #nyc #midtownnyc #grandcentral #grandcentralterminal (at MetLife Building) https://www.instagram.com/p/CgXuNO2u-Yz/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

7.27.21 Lunchtime drawing: On the 86th floor outdoor observatory of the Empire State Building looking out through the haze at the Chrysler Building and more, so much more!
So thankful to meet up with a friend up top, who remembers "Nick's Lunchbox Service" before it was a drawing-a-day project (not in its 8th year) and was actually making a dozen or so lunches once a week for co-workers.
