Just finished reading Invision this morning. A slow first half made for a month long read. Its been awhile since its taken me that long to read a 300-400 page book. This is my first Beat the Backlist read this year. I can't wait to tackle more of my tbr mountain this year. 📘 As I learn more about what works for me spiritually I realize that books like this have been a big part of what has shaped me as a person. This is YA Fantasy by an urban fantasy author I have been following since high school. The series is an outtake of an adult series that has taught me a lot about various pantheons and had me searching for more info online about other cultures belief systems from all parts of the world. That doesn't even start on the historical references and how some of the stories shaped my personal moral code. 🌟 I say this to say that I've come to the conclusion that there is definitely some pop culture in my magick and my witchcraft practice thanks to books like this. They have influenced how I see deity, spirits and magick. And I find no shame in it. I think most pagans who admit to pop culture influences speak of bigger, more well known things like the Craft or Harry Potter but for me it was more fantasy books that most unrelated adults didn't think appropriate for me to read at my age. YA wasn't a thing back then with few exceptions and Children's books too short for me who comes from a family of readers.
