BiWeekly Review Roundup: April
As Simple As Snow: Gregory Galloway - John Green recommended this book years ago and I finally got around to reading it. I wish I never did, to be honest. It reads like a John Green book concept-wise, but it is infinitely more boring and pointless. It feels like no one learns anything and there is so much background filler on every single person and it took me forever to get through.
Company Confessions: Christopher Moran - For some reason I did not know the CIA was so ridiculously shady. This coverage of CIA history related to those writing books about their experiences is interesting enough, but it still reads like a bunch of facts so it’s not a quick page-turner.
The Complete Chi’s Sweet Home Part 1: Konami Kanata - Found this in the bookshop my friend works at, and it looked so cute I just had to pick it up. I am so glad I did, I am now obsessed with Chi. She is so cute! I found myself laughing at almost everything she does because my cat has done these things too. It’s like a beautiful love letter to cat owners, and I am so excited to read the other volumes for more fun from Chi and her family.
No One Belongs Here More Than You: Miranda July - I think I fell in love with the title of this book of short stories, because I still wanted to read it even after looking at reviews that told me it would not be to my taste. It was not. The stories are all disturbing and overly provocative and this type of literature/metaphorical writing just goes over my head. If I’m not going to understand it at least make it beautiful or somewhat relatable, you know? Did not like even one of the stories, which is new for me.
