#OnceUponAMainStreet premiered last night on @lifetimetv . It stars @vanessalachey (Amelia Lewis) and @ryanmcpartlin (Vic Manning). These two strangers bid on a building for their businesses; a chocolate shop and year-round Christmas store. Amelia did the market research, and yes, it is a viable business. 🤷🏻♀️ The owner of the building, a recently widowed Elder Dubois (Patrick Duffy), must decide whose offer he will accept. Vic and Amelia's serendipitous encounters bring them together so often they decide to stop avoiding each other, and hatch a plan to douse Elder in Christmas whether he likes it or not. Amelia and Vic even take over Elder's holiday hosting duties to win the town the honor of “Best Main Street." When Vic and Amelia aren’t channelling Frick and Frack, they pause long enough to sit in a sleigh, smell each other’s cocoa breath and appreciate the Christmas glow that is growing between them. Amelia has more up her chimney than meets the eye when she hacks into Elder’s phone in an effort to reunite him with his estranged daughter. Lucky for her, it didn’t burst into flames like it would IRL. This network gave us more than a single chaste kiss against a snowy backdrop. I’m here for it. Note to self: Get a sleigh. Desirable things keep happening in them. 🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄 #ChristmasTears fell down my cheeks. In an unprecedented, veritable Christmas-miracle, 🎄🎄 also fell from @jgoenner ‘s eyes for a total of 🤶🏼🤶🏼🤶🏼🤶🏼🤶🏼🤶🏼🎅🏽🎅🏽 Christmas Tears! https://www.instagram.com/p/CIOOLvdgT84/?igshid=1v455kjh7ovcp
#JingleBellBride premiered last weekend on @hallmarkchannel . Jessica Perez (Julie Gonzalo) is a New York City wedding planner for a high-profile client who is demanding the jingle bell flower for her bouquet just days before her Christmas wedding. Jessica must bend to this whim if she wants a promotion that would land her in London working even more fabulous weddings. Matt (Ronnie Rowe Jr.) is the sole purveyor of the rare flower. The problem is he’s in a tiny, rural town of Alaska. Jessica flies to Alaska where she meets Matt, the only other person at the airport. She’s got a city girl attitude and plans to get all of her flowers back on a flight to New York the same day. Matt grows the jingle bell blossoms for the town’s annual Jingle Bell Flower Festival, so Jessica needs to persuade him to be more generous than he’d planned. It only takes a box of cookies before the two are cutting up all the plants in the green house. With coolers full of flowers and ice, Jessica is late for her flight and stranded in the small town. She doesn’t have nearly enough layers for the stay, so Matt takes her shopping and offers to put her up in his Aunt’s house. She tries to leave the next day only to discover that the pilot needs to order a part to fix the plane. (He’s also the mechanic.) She’s stranded for another three days and attends the festival where she is crowned "Jingle Bell Flower Princess." Her boss calls and fires her from the wedding because she isn’t back with the flowers. Through a Christmas miracle, the flowers are still alive, the pilot fixes the plane in a few hours and she’s back in New York in time for the wedding and the promotion. Matt is mysteriously back in New York too, even though there was only a single small plane out of that town and Jessica was on it. He tells her he’s moved back to NYC to become a professor and they kiss. No #ChristmasTears were shed but I did google a “jingle bell flower” and you should too! #CountdownToChristmas https://www.instagram.com/p/CG0TKmmg327/?igshid=dwvb48es6fkz
Christmas Tree Lane premiered last night on Hallmark Movies and Mysteries. It starred Alicia Witt as Meg, and Andrew Walker as Nate. Meg works at her family-owned music business on Christmas Tree Lane. Nate works for his father, the developer who wants to level it. They meet at a coffee stand and criticize each other‘s orders. Meg mentions the old music shop and he is surprised it’s still open. Meg rushes off with her black coffee leaving her scarf behind. Nate returns her scarf at the music shop where she dazzles him with her knowledge of children’s choirs from the 80s. I promise you it is more impressive than it sounds. Meg is also an accomplished musician and singer. The business owners of Christmas Tree Lane get an eviction notice. Meg is determined to save everyone this indignity, and promises to hold a Christmas concert so magnificent, no one would want to pave over their dreamy, old street. Nate finds out his dad is the guy that wants to demolish the last piece of ungentrified nostalgia—so does Meg. This is the shortest fight in Hallmark history, as a single apology seems to smoothe things over. Meg sings her heart out in a blue velvet number that might be the most beautiful outfit I’ve ever seen on Hallmark, and saves Christmas Tree Lane. Really... Nate open-mouth kisses Meg in a way that made me gasp out loud. 😬 No #ChristmasTears fell from my eyes. https://www.instagram.com/p/CGySuPWAQno/?igshid=t4g9qbey5i9g
The @lifetimetv premiered the first film from their #It’sAWonderfulLifetime 2020 holiday programming. #ChristmasOnIce stars Abigail Klein as Courtney Bennett, a former ice skating hopeful, and Ryan Cooper as Noah Tremblay, a hot, pro hockey widow. Courtney works at the city’s skating oval, teaching low-income youth to ice skate. The city wants to stop subsidizing the skating oval to save money and cancel the annual Christmas show. Courtney makes it her mission to harass everyone who will listen to bombard the mayor with Christmas cards to save the skating oval. Her roommate works for the Mayor and violates all sorts of boundaries by snapping a picture of a woman in Mayor Scrooge’s office. She casually texts it to Courtney with hopes to manipulate his sensibilities. Noah has opened an indoor, state-of-the-art ice rink in the same city. Courtney runs into Noah in Mayor Scrooge’s office, then at the skating oval where he brings his daughter to skate. Noah’s daughter prefers the customer service at the skating oval. 🤣 Courtney loses no time in hitting Noah up for the cause. He invites her on a date to pick out their Christmas tree and things seem to be going well for Courtney when he ghosts her. Noah let Mayor Scrooge talk him into hosting the Christmas show at his indoor rink. No one blows smoke up Courtney’s chimney without an explanation. She goes to Noah’s house where she sees the same picture of the woman from Scrooge’s office. It clicks. Noah’s dead wife is the Mayor’s daughter. Armed with this new information, Courtney proposes the city counsel to fund the oval with money from the memorial and monument budget and name the oval for Scrooge’s dead daughter. It passes. Now that Courtney has more time on her hands, she and Noah exchange a very chaste kiss and eat a single lukewarm marshmallow together. #LetItSnow premiered on #Netflix yesterday in true generation Z fashion. Chockfull of fresh faces and angst, Let It Snow is the billboard for youth Finstas and the kids will still find this SO Gucci. No cap, I felt a way. This film centers around a diner called “Affle Town” because the place is missing a “W.” As awful as the youths find it, it’s still the most lit place in town. There’s so much unrequited love, it’s stifling. Each one of these characters is on a nihilistic bender. The only comic relief is #JoanCusak, who is inexplicably wearing tin foil all over her body. Beloved is she because she saved everyone’s day while securing her bag. Joan towing cars in the snow is my new favorite Cusak. We get a brief introduction to each protagonist and honestly, there are so many I won’t even name them all. I wished and hoped this would fill my heart stocking, but apart from a tender moment here and there, it left me full of coal. It was by no means dank, chief, fire nor was it the G.O.A.T. It was high-key gritty and low-key an L. I will give it my VERY prestigious inclusion award 🏆. Zero #Christmastears fell. They didn’t lie about the snow. It was everywhere. #GenZ https://www.instagram.com/p/B4qy3Zsg91y/?igshid=1ngwskwpj7u8m
