ā¦Wait a minute. What do you get when you mix Fuji apples, cilantro, a little cayenne and some cider? Positive Contact by Dogfish Head, thatās what. A concoction made up with the Dogfish guys, Dan the Automator and Deltron 3030.Ā Sounds weird. I know. But this is a great beer. Ā It seems likeĀ someone was bored, experimenting in the kitchen and threw whatever into a pot.Ā If I were making a beer, I would never think to put these things together and actually have a good turn out. Hmm. Come to think of it, I donāt make beer; I drink it. I guess I will leave the brewing to the masters. Ā
Positive ContactĀ comes out a little hazy looking, reminiscent of apple juice. The sweet aroma of apples hits you right away as soon as the bottle is opened. Iām notĀ gonnaĀ lie, I didnāt taste the cilantro or the cayenne, but itĀ didnāt leave a bitter taste in your mouthĀ and it went down smooth.Ā This limited release comes in at 9% alcohol volume, it will run you about $13Ā a bottleĀ at the store.Ā Sounds unreasonable, but its limited and worth it. You might even be lucky enough to find it on tap at your local watering hole as well.Ā
A Little Sumpinā to Pass the Time: By Chris Chase
A Little Sumpinā to Pass the Time: By Chris Chase
My power was out a week ago, but I was lucky that I had a Little Sumpinā to drink for the first couple hours. I had to do something with no power, so why not drink right? This was another beer that was suggested to me, but this time from a friend (shout out to Mike). And once again, it was a great suggestion. This was another very refreshing beer. When I opened it I expected it to be a hoppy beer, but I was way off. This Cali brewed beer was just what I was looking for.
Clearly made from a bunch of very, very complex ingredients.
It has a good body, not too heavy and I was able to put down a couple with ease. Ā Not a big alcohol content, just coming in at 7.5%. It is sold in six packs for about $8. It is not a limited release, so you should be able to grab it all year around. Ā Find it at your favorite bar or at the liquor store and grab a cold glass like I did.
