last chapter ends with a heartbreaking disbanding of the usopp pirates, this chapter begins with the fact that zoro and luffy eat fish bones. truly an amazing series, the emotional whiplash is unbelievable
and that's the end of syrup village. i remember the first time i saw this arc in the anime i absolutely hated it. it was just so frustrating because kuro's plan made no sense, i thought the fight scenes were too long, and i thought kaya and usopp were so irritating. I think now that I know the future of usopp's character, it is much more enjoyable. we get to look back and see how how he started and realize how much he as grown through the series. usopp definitely grew on me as the story went on and i'm really looking forward to seeing that progress again. i can also see those hints of who he becomes later- he is still at this point very average and afraid, but he still fights through that fear to stand up for what he believes.
i do think its cute they carry on usopp's legacy. someone has to....i guess. i understand the town has become accustomed to this shenanigan and i think its sweet that usopp originally did this to try to make his mom happy but at this point his mom’s been dead for at least a few years. probably could end this tradition now but now these kids are carrying on usopp’s legacy in a way, so it is a nice symbolic gesture of the impact he had on the town
this is going to make me seem heartless but usopp's backstory is one that i care about the least. like yes it is sad that his father abandoned him to become a pirate and that his mom died of illness but....everyone else is parentless and nearly everyone has a dead mom so its not very special in my eyes. but then again i think that adds to usopp's character where when he starts off, he really is an everyman character with nothing special about him
