It's an interesting (?) decision to not hide Chota's full face like they did in the manga. Specially since we don't get an explanation on the scars until way later nor why he keeps hiding them. I guess it's not really a plot twist nor reveal ? Beyond a funny fact. And it was easier to make a model with a mouth than full on hiding.
