We have been learning a lot about cultures' ideas. This special week which we were lucky to be part of, we have been spending it on learning "HOW". Mostly on UNESCO'S polices on safeguarding the ICH, the convention of 2003 and the critics towards it. I have been learning a lot. If you have questioned how this works, who can protect your traditional practice, an idea, a brand or a ''trademark', movement or a pattern on a scarf. The revision of cultural and other policies and legislation, how to develop inventory methods and more!!! we have been learning a LOT. It's not easy task to understand especially to a person coming from an occupied land, "who belongs to who" is a question that people ask when it comes to Palestine and Isreal but if we talk about other indeginous communities, things are more simple. But its an eye-opening for me especially to learn and know more that we still know nothing. This special week was a visit to the one of the world's Intangble cultural heritage places. A city called Vitrè; the historical place in Bretagne. For reasons beyond our control, My Masters certificate and transcripts have finally arrived and I pray it will reach the hands of my fellow classmates in due time. My first degree certificate in four languages, Norwegian, French, Hungarian and English. Feeling quite emotional to be holding this papers today. Worked too hard and waited too long. Flood of memories from 2014 to 2016 gushes in. Too special. Too precious. Today I can safely and proudly say that I have graduated from my International Master in Dance Knowledge, Practice and Heritage. It was a great 2 years of exploration and I am proud to have been the only Singaporean to have been awarded this prestigious scholarship to travel and study in Europe as a dance scholar. I have met and continue to meet great people through this programme, from fascinating alumni doing great things, classmates which are embarking on greater things and juniors which are as excited to continue the legacy. Praying only for the best and may we Choreomundi continue to enrich our lives and the lives of others through our work and research. The night was even more meaningful because true to tradition, the Choreomundus family was there to support. Two, Urvi (India) and Juan (Peru), were present for the opening night. Also memorable my academic mentor Dr. Andree Grau came with her husband. I am grateful to call cohort 4 a family. Ever so supportive and graciously sincere in their efforts to bring people together.
