Increasingly the people in this afterlife confound me… To answer your question, I really think she ought to know these things by now… No? Surely you can’t mean that you have entered into marriage with another having neglected to tell her your preferences. What an oversight.

In my living existence, it was a nickname I was occasionally given, for instance by Maria Wodzińska. Firstly, it sounds rather sweeter than Chopin. Secondly, it was a way of establishing my Polish identity among the well-off Parisian milieu. They wished to claim me for themselves due to my father’s frenchness. But I maintain my Polish connections always! So my compatriots occasionally addressed me as such.
