I Dreamt You Were Alive
PART ONE
Keir sensed his mother look over him at his script on the table.
His other mom was making breakfast at the stove and he was studying the lines.
He got a good role in a play and it wasn't amazing but it was a start.
"You're just going to keep watching me." He asked her without looking up.
"Maybe. I just enjoy seeing what my son will be saying." Evren said.
She moved from where she was to sit across him on the table.
He looked up from his script to look at his mother. She was a slender woman with short pale blue hair that had four individual long braided strands that had beads at certain points.
Her tattooed hand quickly reached out for his script. Before he could react she already captured the thing.
"Mom." He cried out. " I need to study that."
He reached out for it but his mother stretched out her hand to keep him away.
"Don't worry honey I'll give it back to you."
She studied the lines with a smile on her face. Maybe it was pride that she could be part of her son's passion.
Her eyes lit up as she smiled.
"Kier." She called for him.
He gave her annoyed glare. She paid no mind to that as she motioned for him to come closer. He stood up and moved next to her.
"How do you say this line?"
She pointed at a small line just two sentences.
It was a love confession to another character. It was his line and he knew how to do it. But he raised an eyebrow at his mother. Why would she want to know about that line?
"Why……..?"
"Come one honey just tell me do this for your mother." She pleaded.
"My thieving mother." He said under his breath. But he needed his script and maybe if he showed her he would get his script back. So he relented.
"Fine."
He pulled his chair and told his mother how he would perform it and when he was done she began testing it on him. He tried not to laugh at her cause it wasn't good but had some emotion in it.
It got to a point she didn't sound like she was just saying what she memorized and sounded like her actual words.
Then she gave him back his script and he went back to where he was and continued studying.
His other mother kissed his hair and laid down a plate for him.
"Kier put that away, it's time for breakfast." Edna said as she moved to her wife.
He watched his mother lay a plate for his other mom and herself.
He put his script aside and began eating.
"Edna." Evren reached out for her wife's hand and looked into her green eyes. With her other hand she softly brushed it through her long pink hair.
Edna looked confused and a little alarmed at her wife's sudden serious demeanor.
"I don't know if descriptions are something I'm good at but I certainly can't ever describe what I feel for you or how much I want to lay in a field looking into your eyes for eternity."
Kier choked on his juice as she began. Those were his lines.
He was going to protest but looking at them like that he just couldn't. Sure the lines were his but he enjoyed the sight of the two women he absolutely loved looking at each other like the world wasn't there.
Well his mother will certainly hear the line at the play.
He's mother looked extremely happy about the words and he would if he could completely scratch those lines off the script so she could only think of them as hers.
After breakfast he began packing for rehearsal and as he approached the door. He looked back at them as they happily cleaned up in the kitchen and he smiled.
***********
Kier woke up from his dream with tears in his eyes.
That would have been him now. That would have been them. He would be with them and they would be happy.
He would continue acting and they would watch him and at the end of each play he would hug both of them. His mother would steal his lines and she would give them to his other mom.
He would watch his pink haired mother stress about a beautiful dress to wear at his play. Insisting she had to look her best even if it was a tiny school play. Then she would wear so much jewelry she would look dazzling and his other mother would look like she fell in love again. Cause she always looked like she was in love.
He just wanted to hold them just one more time.
He couldn't stop the tears from coming out and he just sobbed, balling his eyes out.
"Are you okay?" A voice asked next to him.
He looked over to see a beige skinned girl with black hair. She looked worried.
Only then did he realize he was still at Theo house.
He fell asleep here. How embarrassing.
"Yes…… I'm okay……. Thank you and I'm sorry for worrying you." Kier sat up from the chair where he was sleeping. The blanket she placed on him fell as he stood.
He felt a sudden wave of dizziness hit him. He held onto the chair and it got so cold all of a sudden. Even though he was wearing a hoodie that wasn't his.
Now he just realized how bad his head hurt.
"You're not okay." Choolwe said to him. She was looking more worried than before and a little annoyed.
"You've been asleep most of the day and you have a fever." She informed him.
He's been sleeping all day. He definitely felt very tired today but he never thought it was this bad. He also has a fever?
He definitely still felt tired and sleepy. But he couldn't stay and bother her.
"It's fine …… I'll take care of it at home." He dismissed her and began walking away.
She moved ahead and blocked his path.
"You're not going anywhere. I know about you and you're too sick to leave right now."
He tried to shake the sudden blurry vision away.
"Just let me go. I'll just bother you here………. I …… can take care of it." He protested but he was feeling so cold and tired right now.
She stood firm. With an impatient glare on her face.
The dizziness hit and he staggered back a bit. She rushed over to him.
"See you're not okay." She said as she held out her hand to support him.
"I'm……. I'm ok….." he still tried to protest even as his head throbbed terribly.
His legs felt weak and he crumpled to the floor.
She sank down to him. He pushed her away again. She began helping him up and she didn't listen to his now weak pleas as she led him to the couch again.
She laid him down. He could barely keep his eyes open at this point. They were glassy and dazed. They lost focus.
Choolwe definitely knew he wouldn't be fine.
She stood up and left to get him some medicine.
Kier couldn't stay awake any longer and couldn't stop himself as his body gave out and he fell to the side on the couch.
Choolwe looked back to see he had passed out.
She moved over to him and put a hand on his head. He definitely got much hotter and he looked paler.
At least now he can stay down as she took care of him.
She placed him in a comfortable position and covered him in a blanket as he began shivering.
She brushed off the black hair and sighed. What's wrong with this guy? Can't he just stay down?
