What if I was a gunner and a cyborg and you were my pilot and we crashed in a quarantine zone on an unfamiliar planet and I got turned into a zombie and bit your ear off and you gouge my eyes cameras in self defense and we’re both rushed to the hospital because in a sci fi world zombie bacteria is fast spreading but completely curable if caught in time and neither of us remember what happened but we’re slowly starting to piece it and ourselves together, would you forgive me? Oh, and also we’re sci fi western cowboy outlaws because i said so.

Item: Antique automata and related blueprints/notes
WB-TB (Warbot: Tunnel Buster) (1897)
Primary Directive: Sweep the mines and secure the area. Escort humans to the surface. Destroy any green matter powered machinery.
_________________________
Condition:
WB-TB-1 through WB-TB-8: Poor
WB-TB-9: Fair
WB-TB-10 through WB-TB-14: Poor
Notes: All but WB-TB-9 are in various states of disrepair. Some have cores that were shut down properly and might be salvageable, all others should be considered scrap material. Schedule WB-TB-9 for repairs and activation as soon as possible.
All destroyed bots show signs of crushing and green matter weaponry consistent with most other warbots from the time. Radiation is minimal and benign.
The point of failure that seems to have caused such a high mortality rate among this model compared to others of the same year is the talocrural hinge pin which was made of copper instead of the medium carbon steel or malleable cast iron we normally see in Peter I's bot construction. The copper couldn't withstand the weight of the bots for long and, in most cases, bent to uselessness or, in a few cases, fractured completely.
On a less morbid note, they all seem to have been built with included transceivers and have a separate antenna for transmitting and receiving. In the pursuit of being nice I will call that decision fascinating and unique.
These are the first bots discovered with the purpose of actually going into the mines. The notes discovered with these remains include what seems to be partial blueprints for bots completely unrelated to the WB-TB model. They require more study but I think, if these bots were ever even constructed, we might have stumbled on a whole new classification of first generation automata.
Built to carry very heavy loads only a short distance. (As opposed to Ferrous who carries lighter loads long distances with speed). He was dependable, reliable, and timely. He liked to show off his strength, which matched even some of the mining bots. He was confident, quick to a joke, and charming, many bots looked up to him and he was happy to be a role model.
Ferrous is one of three. I have not miscounted, it is correct. The DB.SH standard round core was not built for continuous long term use, combine that with the green matter exposure from way back when making the blue matter unstable, and it's a wonder that Marten is the only one of them with such obvious adverse effects.
His core started running cold in the 50s and has only gotten worse since. His boiler only simmers and he spends the vast majority of his time in stasis charging for the few hours each day he can be awake.
When Ferrous says he has to go take care of his brothers, Marten is mostly who he's talking about. Ferrous has to make sure he powers on properly and that there is water nearby so he doesn't have to waste energy getting it himself.
For the few hours he is awake, Marten is not exactly a pleasant person to be around. And who can blame him? He is tired and weak and can't do the things he likes to do. His head is full of fog and he just doesn't have the same patience for nonsense he used to. He doesn't like being a miserable person to be around, it's not who he is and he can tell it's affecting the others, but try as he might he just can't help it.
That's not to say that he doesn't have good days. Days where his boiler hits 212° and he gets enough energy to crack a few tired jokes and go down with Auston to help out a bit in the tunnels and do what he loves doing. What all Digbots love doing.
It can be hard to tell with any of them what they are really feeling. DB.SHs have fixed faceplates. They can move their jaws and their "eyelids" but outside of body language there isn't much else to go off of. Ferrous has a grin and Marten is stuck in a scowl but both of them have good days and bad days.
Ferrous tells him about the surface and the engineers and all the nice bots but it all just sounds. Exhausting. The trip to the surface is so much farther than going to the tunnels, which is already a lot even on a good day. Meeting new people sounds exhausting. Getting his hopes up sounds exhausting.
He's scared of getting worse, annoyed by most attempts at conversation, and jealous that Ferrous can spend so much time away from home.
If Ferrous' conflict is man vs society, Marten's conflict is man vs self.

The current most accurate Ferrous reference sheet:
Now for an expression sheet, a hand reference sheet, and some clothes (he’s not particularly naked to me but its the right thing to do in polite company)
