The Perks of Being Soul Mates
@chippedxteacup gets a plotted starter
If someone had asked him a few hours ago if heād rather Regina have his dagger than Zelena, heād have said yes. Mostly because heād assumed that, as a fellow former villain aspiring to be good, heād thought sheād give him his dagger back. How foolish that was. Not only had she taken his dagger and controlled him with it, she had waxed lyrical about how āheroes donāt exact vengeanceā. She hadnāt even seemed to care what heād been through, or that her sister had killed his son. No, she didnāt care. And neither did anyone else. No one had said anything to her, told her to give his dagger back or anything. No, he was a threat, to be controlled, not the man who had sacrificed himself to save them all only a year ago.
He sat in his shop now, staring into a mirror. His face was blank, but inside his mind was whirling, and a small part in the back hysterically reminded him about Zelenaās rant on appearances before he shoved it away. What was to become of him now? Regina didnāt seem to have any intention of giving him his dagger back. So what, heād become the townās slave? The idea made him feel sick. Until it didnāt.
He frowned, studying his reflection as though it held the answer to these new feelings he suddenly had. They made no sense. The overwhelming sense of safety, of love, was something heād not felt since before heād died. Why was it here now, out of nowhere? A thought stuck him, and he felt his heart sink. Was this a command? Heād been rather grateful that Zelena had been unimaginative with her commands. Though perhaps unimaginative was the wrong word. Sheād wanted him to grow to love her on his own, she hadnāt wanted to command it, to force him. But did Regina have no qualms about it? Was this her command, a paltry attempt to fix him after heād been so broken?
It didnāt really feel like a command, but heād never been commanded this way before so he couldnāt be sure. All he knew was there were no other commands on him, so he stayed put, staring into the mirror until he saw a bit of movement in it, and hear the refreshingly familiar sound of the bell over his shop door. And when he saw who was being announced by it, he smiled. He stared at her for a moment in the mirror, as if not really sure itās her, but then he turned and then he was moving and so was she and finally, finally he was back in his Belleās arms.
As they embraced, it finally clicked for him. He didnāt pull away, he didnāt want to let go of her just yet, but he did mutter his question. āYou have it, donāt you? My dagger.ā It made sense. He had felt bad when Zelena and even Regina had his dagger. But his True Love? Surely heād feel good if she had it, right? It made sense, was the only think that did, so he hoped he was right.
