love throws a line (cory/bradley + alex & chip, post-4x10)
“I thought,” Bradley rasps, the last few days at Alex’s starting to come back to her. “I thought I was back—” “No, honey, you’re not back there.” It’s nice, Alex holding her like this, holding her tight, but it’s almost too much. Her arms itch, her breath coming a little faster. “You’re here with me.” “Not there.” Bradley swallows, throat so dry it hurts. “Not—I was dreaming, I think. But then I woke up, and I thought I was at the Archer Gray.” Alex’s fingers still against her scalp for just an instant, then pick right back up a little more gently. “We can go there, if you want,” she says after a moment. “Anywhere you want. You just tell me.” Bradley shakes her head, burrowing deeper into Alex. “It doesn’t matter,” she breathes. Her chin trembles, and she’s so tired. “That wasn’t…” It wasn’t right, she thinks, wasn’t home anymore, but nowhere is, really, and in the end she just falls back asleep.
Or: post-season four, Bradley and Cory get by with a little help from their friends.
