So in my new wip, I've got all kinds of fantasy and supernatural characters, fae, dragons, vampires, werebeasts, etc, but only humans can be turned into vampires or werebeasts.
So the vampire queen, Morrigan, has only ever turned 1 person in her 2000-ish years alive and this person, Baila, was in her 20s or so when she was turned but she and the queen make jokes that Baila is her daughter.
A century later Morrigan adopts 3 kids: a fae, a fae/human halfling, and a shape-shifter. The fae, Kexin, and Baila eventually fall in love when he's in his 100s. I had already planned for them to end up together before I made Baila Morrigan's "daughter" btw, but I was just wondering... is that's incest? They're not related by blood and they've only met a few times prior to getting together, not enough for then to develop a familial bond or anything.
Also while I'm at it, Morrigan's lover is a demigod named Ikinic, and he's helped her raise her kids, he considers them his, and one of them, the fae/human halfling Vale, is going to get together with Ikinic's younger brother, Valdarian. Vale and Valdarian have never met before the events of the first book, Ikinic actually thought he was dead, so there's no familial relationship between them prior and they're not related by blood, so... is that incest?
This takes place in a fantasy world so there's no official paperwork saying they're Morrigan's or Ikinic's kids, and Morrigan and Ikinic aren't married. Baila's got Morrigan's blood because she turned her, but Kexin doesn't, and Ikinic and Valdarian have the same dad, but Vale's not related to them.
I don't feel like it's incest, and I'm gonna write it regardless, but I know some will consider it incest and give me grief over it. I've got a similar situation in another wip that takes place in the same universe as this one but a few centuries later in more modern times. Idk I'm just rambling.
