Rule 4: Actually tell them you tagged them
1. What videogame have you replayed the most?
Um, probably Dragon Age: Origins, but if it's not that it's DA2 or either Mass Effect 1 or 2. I honestly don't know because I do end up deleting a whole pile of save files because I end up not being as attached to the character. That being said, I've probably logged just as many hours in TES: V, but I haven't done as many playthroughs because of the different style of the games. And I've probably logged even more hours than that in the Sims.
2. What book do you recommend to people more than any other?
I don't? Ha. I don't really have anyone in my life to recommend books to, and the people in my life who do read probably don't want to be reading the stuff that I enjoy (trash, historical fiction, biographies, video game novelisations, fanfic).
3. What is your oldest, most enduring ship?
Han/Leia. For sure I shipped that before I knew what shipping was, but they're also canon and not a particularly difficult ship to deal with because there's really minimal angst there. But still, the scoundrel and the princess forever.Â
4. Do you prefer being uncomfortably hot or uncomfortably cold, if you had to pick one?
Cold, probably. I don't handle heat well, I just find myself wanting to crawl out of my skin and feeling like I can't breathe properly and being sweaty and sticking to everything and it's just gross all around. And where I live heatwaves also come with stupidly high amounts of humidity which just makes uncomfortably hot even worse. I mean I don't like being really cold either but at least I can pile on sweaters and blankets and whatnot.
5. Late to bed or early to rise?
Late. To. Bed. I have occasional bouts of insomnia where I won't be able to sleep most of the night, but I also don't wake up easily. I am cranky as fuck for the first hour or so that I'm awake if I have to make myself wake up. When I first wake up, I just feel like everything causes sensory overload and everything gets on my nerves. So I need quiet and dark and the time to wake up gradually or else I spend the rest of the day wanting to punch everything.
6. The OTP you donât even want to admit you have.
Uh...I don't even know. I don't feel bad about Hawke/Anders but Jesus are there ever days when I wish I didn't ship it because it's such an angst-ridden OTP.Â
No wait, no. Courier/Boone. I hate that I ship it. I don't want to fucking ship it. But I ship it anyway and it's just so, ugh. It makes me feel gross because the guy needs some peace and definitely doesn't need the PC in his life in that way because that can't be healthy but I can't fucking help it. It could be worse I guess.
7. Holiday you wish your region/culture celebrated
I'm North American and Catholic (more or less) so I'm not exactly lacking in holidays, I get the sort of big prominent ones, like Christmas, Halloween and Thanksgiving. And Easter. I guess I wish Christmas was less 'Generic North American' and that my mom's family had brought a few more traditions from their country of origin when they emigrated/immigrated. Because every once in a while my mom and her siblings will mention stuff they used to do as kids and we'll just be sitting there like 'Why don't we do that too?'
8. What is your favorite thing in your house?
Idk I have a ton of sentimental shit around my house which I love because it's memories and stuff that sort of makes me feel like I want to smile and cry and like I've been punched in the heart but I also have consoles and a gaming pc which let me explore a whole bunch of different worlds that I can wonder about and think about and new sciences to try to justify in my brain and new people to love so yeah there's that too.Â
9. What was the first act that made you think âoh god, Iâm an adult.â
When my boyfriend and I started looking for houses. There was a real estate agent, we were talking about money in amounts that I couldn't have conceived of dealing with like 2 months before, I had to think about furnishings etc. and I think I spent something like three months just incredibly fucking overwhelmed and like 'Oh Jesus Christ, I am an adult. I can't be an adult. I'm too young to be an adult. AHHHHHH!'
10. Worst job youâve ever had?
I worked housekeeping in a hospital for a year. The pay was excellent but I was on call 24/7, and shifts could be scheduled a minimum of 8 hours apart. So I was always afraid of the phone ringing, my sleep schedule was utterly fucked and I had no social life. Also the various departments did a shit job of communicating with each other so there would be a number of times where you'd get a call that a patient was gone and/or deceased and you needed to go basically disinfect the room/furniture and re-make the bed and the patient and/or body would still be there which was just an awkward situation. It wasn't the worst job ever, but I think it's telling that I would rather go back to retail.Â
11. If you had to pick one piece of media (book, game, show, movie, etc) that âchanged your life,â what would it be?
Indiana Jones/Star Wars (the original trilogies) made me fall in love with adventure and epic stories and just sort of fun. KOTOR started me on gaming in a more adult way and not just in a 'party games' kind of way. So that's what got me thinking about meta so much and RPGs and gaming.
And I know I've probably said this elsewhere, but the game that really changed my life had less to do with the game and other people playing the game. When I discovered the BSN after I started playing Dragon Age, I met some people who:
1) Inspired me to write my own fanfiction, regardless of how shit I thought it was.
2) Taught me how to roleplay in my games.
3) Made me feel like it was ok and, better, normal, to think as much as I do about the games I play.
And that changed my life more than any single piece of media I've ever looked at before or since.
