I've heard that your tertiary function is the one that's most noticeable at first glance (like for example, in exxps, the je function is pretty prominent; that's the one I've noticed the most). Don't know if that's actually bs but I was wondering if you noticed that tendency when you type people
This has a couple grains of truth:
Many people on MBTI tumblr are in their late teens/early 20s when the tertiary function is immature but very actively developing, and they or the people they’re most likely to be typing (ie, their peers) may be using it a lot in the sense of “I wonder what THIS button does” so you’ll see a lot of broad, obvious tertiary function stuff from people that age because the function hasn’t developed beyond broad and obvious. Given that a lot of descriptions rely on relatively immature function behavior, the tertiary function can match those descriptions really well compared to the more sophisticated, adaptable use of the dom and aux.
Specifically in EXXPs: usually it’s easier to observe judging functions than perceiving functions and easier to observe extroverted functions than introverted functions. Therefore, their tertiary function seems even more obvious in the scenario above... but in an IxxJ you’ll probably see the aux function more.
So: not entirely false, but not a reliable method either.
