Can I get some Chili Pepper and Alchemist fluff?
[specified to be romantic]
So. Maybe stealing a girlâs credit card is not the ideal way to introduce yourself. Maybe her spilling chemicals all over you in retaliation was also not the best way to be introduced to her. Maybe, just maybe, proceeding to continue to steal her things was not the best way to get back at her. And maybe not the best way to keep seeing her.
But sometimes life doesnât really give you what you expect. This is how Chili Pepper finds herself in an alchemistâs lab, holding a bottle of what she assumes is chemicals.Â
She gives it a once over with a frown. At least it isnât in her face this time.
âYouâve got to have something better than that!â She gestures with the bottle, the liquid swirling as she moves. âThis wonât fetch anything.â
âYouâve obviously underestimated me,â Alchemist scoffs. âAm I getting my card back?â
Chili Pepper raises an eyebrow. âWho says I got it on me?â
âObviously, no one.â Alchemist rolls her eyes. âBut I donât remember owning such a flashy wallet with my card inside.â
Chili Pepperâs eyes widen at that. In Alchemistâs hands is a shiny pouch. It glistens in the lamp light.
âGive me that!â
She lunges for the pouch. Alchemist tosses the pouch towards her pet, who giggles as it shakes it. The room is filled with the sound of coins.
Alchemist snorts, a ghost of a smile on her face. âLeft your daggers behind, did you?â
âTch!â Chili Pepper glances towards the scales, who have long made away with her wallet. âOf course I have them.â
Alchemist then really does laugh at that. âItâs a bit too late not to threaten me.â
âWho cares?â Chili Pepper fumes. âIâve already got what I wanted!â
âThatâs what you said last week,â Alchemist says, stifling a laugh.
Chili Pepper grumbles at that. Alchemist turns away from her, busying herself with her work. The sounds of chemicals bubbling and fuming fill the room.
The two of them are quiet, after that. Alchemist busies herself with her alchemy, mumbling and making note of things in particular. Chili Pepper doesnât leave, seating herself on a empty table. She glances between both the other cookieâs chemicals and the one she was given.
She almost grumbles to herself, aloud. She didnât think very far ahead in this plan of hers. Sure, sheâs with Alchemist now, but she doesnât think âstealing someoneâs thingsâ constitutes as a date.
She frowns, jiggling the bottle she was given. This probably wasnât exactly the best substitute for getting some kind of love letter, either. Not that she knew much about that.
She almost wonders if sheâs overstaying her welcome when Alchemist speaks.
âYouâre not leaving?â Alchemist calls out.
Chili Pepper raises an eyebrow. âNot without my wallet!â
âI thought you would have stolen it back by now.â A pause, then a snort. âOr at the very least, tried to.â
âI can get it if I wanted to!â she protests. âI... just got no idea where the dang thing is!â
Alchemist gestures to the door. âTake a right, then go to the next door you see. Thatâs where it likes to hide my things.â
Chili Pepper raises an eyebrow. âNo cat and mouse?â
âAs much as I enjoy our daily chases,â she says, adjusting her glasses. âIâm actually in the middle of a breakthrough.â
Chili Pepper feels her stomach clench a little, but ignores it. Instead, she says, âJeez, lady. Why didnât you say so earlier?!â
âYou waiting for me to finish was cute,â Alchemist smirks. âbut you looked sad just sitting on the table.â
She flushes at that. âWho says Iâm waiting, huh?â
âWho says you arenât?â
Chili Pepper fumes and heads out the door. âTch. Fine, I can see when Iâm not wanted.â
She sticks a tongue out at Alchemist, who only laughs.Â
In a few moments time reappears Chili Pepper, pouch in hand. Sheâs halfway through leaving from the window when Alchemist speaks.
âIâll be finished by Tuesday,â she calls out. âBut youâre always welcome to take me out before that.â
Chili Pepper nearly falls hearing that.
âWhat, like a life or death situation?â
An eyeroll. âItâll spare me the embarassment.â
Alchemist goes quiet after that. It clicks, then.
âYou want take out.â
âIf youâre not willing to say anything constructive, just leave.âÂ
Chili Pepper laughs. Itâs almost accurate to say she roared at that.
So maybe stealing is not the best way to meet a girl or to get a date with her. But it did work, so whoâs complaining? Not her.
