@chikoyama | "if you're guilty, i'm guilty ."
yuuta only flinches for a moment as his back hits the brick. against an enemy he might've been more on guard, but he dropped the steely facade after seeing chiyori-san - the sight of her pain.
the second-year can't quite hear her words at first- he truly doesn't care to. instead, he drops the sword he'd readied upon hearing her calling for him. they'd talked about this scenario many times before - chiyori's plea for him to put an end to her and his own dismissive words. it's something he never brought himself to agree to.
"if you're guilty, i'm guilty," he says with finality, his gaze steady as a testament to his conviction. it's not an argument but a promise. after all, the two had become close thanks to their experiences as sorcerers. he'd once lost control back and been the reason people had lost their lives. he knew that wasn't a reflection of himself. if he wasn't a lost cause, she definitely wasn't - or at least he hoped.
yuuta doesn't realize he's tense until chiyori's hand falls from his shoulder. only then does he let out a breathe he'd been holding. his eyes continue to follow her as she slowly retreats, the background nothing but a blur.
her words, though only a whisper, tug on his heart. the shame and defeat in her voice make him step forward. it isn't her fault; yuuta had already decided that.
"senpai, you don't have to deal with this alone," he says, grabbing her wrist. "whatever you did, it doesn't matter."
"i told you before i'd take care of everything," he pleas, his grasp tightening around her. "remember? you're my favorite, so just let me. tell me what you did."
