This is some of the fast-food I've gotten in the past two weeks, mostly chicken sando's but I couldn't pass up a burger at five guys.
I was surprised with the shake shack sandwich. First off, it was a chicken breast that hadn't been flattened/pounded out, so it was a think piece of chicken. That may hint at something a bit more fresh and less processed, but I would prefer a flat chicken patty that sits on a bun a little nicer. Other than that, it was a perfect buttermilk herb mayo on the sandwich.
McDonald's spicy chicken sandwich was pretty good but different from Wendy's, where they use a hot sauce rather than a spicy seasoned breading. I enjoyed their simple packaging and just the feel of the paper bag that would wrap nicely due to the inside foil structure. I got a bit of a chuckle from the do not microwave labeling, which was a little recall to the McDonald's hot coffee incident from I don't know how many years ago. Posing a question in the food industry: Where is the line for responsibility on the food establishment and the customer? Good thing the bag is marked spicy, haha. I almost forgot to mention, but I noticed the bun was different from the burger my dad ordered, and I think I would've preferred a classic sesame bun over my potato roll.
I was leaving the store the other day hungry and passing five guys. I had to stop and grab a burger. A thought never even crossed my mind to order or see if they even had chicken sandwiches, this thought had crossed my mind while ordering at shake shack. If they do, I imagine it might be a piece of grilled chicken, but then again, I don't believe they have a grill. The bag fries that don't make it into the fry cup are quintessential of any five guys burger. If you took away the soda cup and background décor, you might have a shot at guessing where this simplistically package burger was from.
The Wendy's Classic Big Bacon Cheddar Chicken sandwich was different from a plain jane sandwich but nothing to write home about. I guess the addition of bacon and cheese was nice, but the bacon jam and whatever jazz they put on it would not have been missed. I'd stick to an OG Chix sandwich from here on out.
