When I was a child, my parents filled my personal library with nothing but black, black-centered and African Inspired books. The books in my library ONLY held faces of color which was/is so essential to the development of a black child. White dominated everything and everywhere in film, billboards, books,toys...etc. They were very serious about not adding to the conditioning if self-hatred in our home. I always said that after I married, I'd begin rebuilding that collection for my future little ones 😁 and here are the first two books... These were in my childhood library, purchased from the black-owned and operated Amen Ra's Bookshop back in Tallahassee, when it was on Adams Street 😉 The first of many more to come.
