The traditional flavor of powdered sugar donuts is combined with the sweetness of cherries to create these delicious cherry-topped powdered donuts. Ideal as a dessert or for breakfast!
Ingredients: 2 cups all-purpose flour. 1/2 cup granulated sugar. 2 tsp baking powder. 1/2 tsp salt. 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg. 1/2 cup whole milk. 2 large eggs. 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted. 1 tsp vanilla extract. 1 cup powdered sugar. 1/4 cup cherry jam. 12 maraschino cherries. Vegetable oil for frying.
Instructions: In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, salt, and ground nutmeg. In another bowl, combine milk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Mix well. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix; the batter should be slightly lumpy. Heat vegetable oil in a deep frying pan or fryer to 350F 175C. Drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil and fry until golden brown, turning once to ensure even cooking, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove donuts from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil. While the donuts are still warm, roll them in powdered sugar to coat evenly. Using a small spoon or a pastry bag, fill each donut with cherry jam. Top each donut with a maraschino cherry. Serve your delicious Cherry Topped Powdered Donuts and enjoy!
