Russia’s strike on ATB in Chernihiv—a war crime committed by occupiers from the “GROM ‘Kaskad’” brigade

On July 26, Russia deliberately struck the ATB grocery supermarket in the city of Chernihiv with a “Geran-4” jet drone. As a result, two people were killed, including a 10-year-old child, and 25 people were wounded, among them three children.

The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine determined that the launch of the jet-powered drone, equipped with a video camera, was carried out by terrorists from Combat Group No. 3 of the “GROM ‘Cascade’” Separate Unmanned Aviation Brigade, from the village of Navlya in the Bryansk region. The identification of the direct perpetrators of the crime is ongoing.

The group’s leader is A.O. Sergunin.

The “GROM ‘Cascade’” Separate Unmanned Aviation Brigade operates within the military-space forces of the aggressor state of Russia and specializes in attacks using long-range drones, particularly against Ukrainian civilian targets. The “GROM ‘Cascade’” brigade has a reputation as a unit for the so-called “elite” caste of Muscovites—specifically, officials, lawmakers, bureaucrats, regional warlords, and other scum. These so-called “privileged” individuals have the opportunity to sign a short-term contract lasting several months and, without coming anywhere near the combat zone, obtain the status of a “participant” in the criminal war against Ukraine.

Last year, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense identified the commander of the “GROM ‘Cascade’” brigade—the war criminal Ruslan Nikolayevich Negrub.
