My Sarang-Chen Story
I have known EXO since their debut. I have known their existence but I wasn’t a fan that much… yet.
Some of my friends were EXOtics(unofficial fandom name) then. I know Mama, History, What is Love, etc. I liked Sehun first but I was too immersed with SHINee at the time.
They first went here to the Philippines with SNSD, Tahiti, Infinite, U-Kiss and Tasty for DKFC 2013. I was supposed to go but then due to some personal circumstances, I wasn’t able to.
It wasn’t until Wolf era that I came to know them so much. Until I saw EXO-K perform live during K-Pop Republic concert in the same year. SHINee was there too. I was able to see Chanyeol be rejected by Baekhyun, slip and blame the floor. Lol.
During that time, it was the height of the sasaeng’s harassment. THEY WERE HARASSING EXO. Like when they crashed Baekbeom’s wedding, left some disgusting stuff outside the boys’ dorms and even stealing somebody’s underwear.
During these dark times, a light shone through. Kind, sincere and heartfelt words that crept into my heart.
“Don’t hurt my hyungs and my dongsaengs. Hurt me instead. I have the least fans.” Words dropped by a certain member named Chen. To be honest, I really didn’t notice him until that moment.
I wondered why this sweet and selfless person said those words. I read and researched everything about him. And with every fact, photo, and quote that I read, he became endeared to me.
That was almost 3 years ago. I’ve been loving him for that long.
When they announced that there will be an EXO'LuXion concert here, I was soooooo happy. Finally. After all those years of stanning Kim Jongdae, I’ll finally see my oppa. I didn’t care if I was only in Gen Ad. The only thing that mattered was to see him and hear him sing live.
That was not as easy as I thought. The tickets were sold out in mere hours. My hopes and dreams of seeing him, shattered.
But then, I guess, I have been a good girl all these years.
During the 7th Kpop Convention here, I was one of the winners who won VIP tickets for TEL Manila. Chen biased, REPRESENT!
I was also the first Chen international fan outside of Korea to hug and kiss the Chen mascot. The same mascot that the real Chen acknowledged. I thank the high heavens for these blessings.
It was finally the D-Day. January 24th, 2016.
I saw Kim Jongdae in flesh. Chanyeol was tugging my heart but no, I kept loyal to my bae. My fancams were focused on whoever was infront of me but I wasn’t looking at my camera. My eyes were looking for him all throughout the concert.
I was already giving up on him noticing me.
Until the Sing For You stage. He waved in my section, beside me actually, then he looked at my way, our eyes met and he waved at me.
I kept shouting, Jongdae oppa, Saranghae and made a big heart. It wasn’t in vain tho. As I was blessed enough to see him smile and wave at me.
After all those years, I finally saw my oppa. Indeed, good things come to those who wait.
I may not be there when he started, but if there is one thing I could do, that is to stay with him as long as I could.
