*frothing at the mouth*
Happy valentines everyone
link click theory
hey guys this is my first ever tumblr post and first ever theory im posting so please be lenient on me… this probably also has been said before but i have a whole thing that idk if it has been said b4 so
i was thinking that Lu guang and cheng xiaoshi are both going back in time and keep missing each other but the catch is that Lu guang KNOWS both of them are going back in time.
hear me out
Lu guang is always telling cheng xiaoshi “past or present, let them be” not as a reminder, but as a plea
because in the beginning i think Lu guang died first which is why in season 1 when Lu Guang gets attacked by possessed qiao ling that cheng xiaoshi considers to go back in time. my theory is that cheng xiaoshi actually did go back in time in one timeline (the actual ORIGINAL one) and he dies to save Lu guang. Lu guang watches cheng xiaoshi die, and like in every single one, he gets xiaoshi’s powers and goes back in time.
This means in s3 Lu guang will die to save cheng xiaoshi and what we will see if my theory is correct is that cheng xiaoshi goes back in time. They will be saving each other and dying for each other over and over again. And this wouldnt interfere with the “you forgot me thing” because technically, in that timeline, cheng xiaoshi and qiao ling DID forget him. They just keep missing each other over and over again and keep dying over and over again.
This is kind of a stretch but another thing is the song “dive back in time”. The lyrics are “come back from dive back in time”. But this could be 2 different things. It could be come back from the dive from the past or come back from the dive just in time. There’s a reason why Lu guang doesn’t want cheng xiaoshi in the past for more than 12 hours. We know someone can survive for more than 12 in the past because Lu guang (and cheng xiaoshi if im right) does it and no harm comes to them. So why does he warn him? Because Lu guang is afraid that the cheng xiaoshi in the other timeline that is also going back in time will take over and come back in Lu guang’s current timeline to save him. The song, as we know, is Lu guang’s pov. He’s begging cheng xiaoshi to come back a. Come back just in time, and b. Come back in general.
moving back to my idea of Lu guang dying first, that means cheng xiaoshi goes back in time and idk how many times yet but he succeeds. He succeeds in saving Lu guang by dying. They are both stuck in this loop, this paradox of one of them dying in a timeline, and the other dying in another.
Eventually, i think the way link click will end is they will meet in the same timeline and just keep trying to die to save one another and they will both die, completing the idea of link clink having a bittersweet and a happy ending. There will be 2 timelines with two different endings, and one of them is where they both die.
There’s my longass rant for you. Please correct me on some things because this is my very first theory and also my knowledge on link click is a bit dry. Thank you for reading all this way.

Shiguang Angst
“You could have told me the truth. Why do all this, Lu Guang? What is worth your dedication to not destroying time?!”
Lu Guang says nothing, until quietly breathing out words so quietly Cheng Xiaoshi can barely hear them, “You.”
Cheng Xiaoshi’s voice wavers as the building rage dwindles away. “What?”
Lu Guang’s hand reaches forward, almost as if the other is fragile-- precious to him.
“You think I haven’t tried?”
Cheng Xiaoshi’s eyes widen. Lu Guang would never.. could not be implying such an impossible and stupid thing.
Cheng Xiaoshi slaps Lu Guang’s hand away. “We both know you’d never break the timeline for me.”
Lu Guang looks away, shame not being enough to describe the acceptance in his face. It’s like he’s numbed to something that has been repeated, over and over and over again. A single tear drops down his face. “I have. And you always will be worth more than anything, Xiaoshi. Always.”
Cheng Xiaoshi can’t help the way it stirs his heart. This thing he both hoped for hated. Knowing that Lu Guang loves him— that he’s finally worth more than time.. precious in that way. But it’s all so wrong. Lu Guang has been broken.
His resolve crumbles, and he reaches out, wiping the tear from Lu Guang’s face.
“Oh, Lu Guang…”
Lu Guang doesn’t shy away like he expected, but he does flinch back without reproach like he expected to be slapped.
Cheng Xiaoshi wraps his arms around Lu Guang and pulls him into a hug.
“I’d never… Why would you do this alone? We promised that it’d be together, remember? For all the time we have.”
“There wasn’t enough of it.” Lu Guang whispers. He feels Cheng Xiaoshi press a light kiss to his cheek, just under his eyes where he notices tears have been running. When did that happen?
The space between them is so little and yet so heavy all the same. Lifetimes apart and yet lived in versions of themselves shared and changed forever. And still, they remain there; intertwined like their fates.
The new inplick art inspired me again aa
