Theyre more akin to vampiric creatures as their main food source is life force.

But for one to become one is a rather difficult and rather self inflicted ... an alpha chandelure must possess a human for this to take place. But that only happens if they are close to death and they dont typically stay where people are at most times.

When possessed, the human will not be aware of their transformation at night... yes... it happens every night.

When the sun comes down, the torso is set ablaze and is detached from its lower half. However the spine is still intact. This is the only way they can revert back to human form/be tied to the mortal plane. If its severed by a silver blade, they wont be able to return and will die upon sun up...

Because of this Achilles heel, they are extra protective of this part of their body and will hide them in places you wouldnt find without the help of ghost/canine pokemon.

There they will fly through the night and find victims to feed on... the only way to deter these creatures is ironically a ghost type... greavard/houndstone are naturally aware of these being and will alert trainers of their presence. They even will hold onto them by their spine so that their trainer can run or even find the lower half and sever it from the torso.
