Secret behind Tree crickets
The tree cricket, Oecanthus, is the "most familiar stranger" of our summer nights. You may not have heard its name, but you must have heard its chirping! Belonging to the subfamily Oecanthinae of the cricket family, these crickets are named for their arboreal habitat. Males vibrate their wings at night to produce a chirping sound to attract the attention of females. The call of the tree cricket is clear and pleasant, long and continuous, with a strong sense of rhythm. Its chirping is often used as a symbol of summer nights and is added to the soundtracks of movies and television. The frequency of cricket chirping is usually related to the weather temperature, and this is especially true for tree crickets.
American physicist Amos Dolbear took the snowy tree cricket (Oecanthus fultoni) as the subject of his research and published a formula in 1897 that uses the chirping frequency of the tree cricket to calculate the temperature—the "Dolbear's Law". As a result, the snowy tree cricket is also known as the "thermometer cricket". Within the temperature range of 5 to 30°C, this formula has relatively small errors, and interested students can verify it.
Do You Even Clone Bro?
The role of ethics in scientific research is also called bioethics. Bioethics is a discipline dealing with the ethical implications of biological research and applications especially in medicine. A substantial topic of bioethics in the subject of cloning. The argument is whether they should clone people at all, and who would be the ones chosen to be cloned. The other point is that if cloning became a normal scenario, only the rich would be the only ones able to afford it. This opinion on cloning is attempting to resist the normalization of cloning.
However, there would be some benefits to cloning. For example, the cloning of plants that have medical benefits, and they could be used to find cures for diseases like cancer. Another highly debated form of cloning is genetic engineering. This is where people are attempting to make a super baby, by taking someone’s DNA and multiplying it to other bodies. The dilemma with this is that other qualities may seem good to others, but they may seem terrible to others. This whole idea of cloning is highly debated, and we may never come up with a final decision on the topic of cloning.

An animated frame for a bumper. Hoa Hoc is “chemistry” in Vietnamese.
I'm pretty sure no one is paying attention right now. It's sad because only about a third of the class actually shows at lecture.
