I am not my brother, I have no master's degree in English. I never know how to communicate what I am thinking, what I am feeling. I'm upset. I just lost someone with whom I shared one of the most unconventional of friendships. 

His name was Frank. I hadn't seen much of him in the last year, but whenever I had, we always exchanged large bear hugs and dropped everything we were doing to catch up, even if our meeting was brief.

I worked with him at my former restaurant. We looked out for each other. He'd give me food, advice, and ensured no one messed with me. I helped him in the kitchen, gave him golf cart rides, and kept him motivated. 

During our summer working together, he became like a father to me. A really fucked up one, but I father in the least. I looked forward to coming to work for the first time ever and the last time since.

I wish I had kept up communications, and I wish I had been able to tell him what his friendship meant to me. But I guess these regrets are inevitable and unjustified when someone passes, especially when they go so suddenly, so young.

Though I do usually dwell on deaths of those I knew, I almost never delude myself into believing in heaven. I usually imagine death to be an eternal slumber, yet this fate seems too passive for such a lively being. So, perhaps, tonight I will give in to my hopes that maybe there is some form of heaven.
