Isaac couldnât remember the last time he had taken a bath. He was sure heâd had them when he was younger, when his parents were still alive. There were vague memories of him splashing around in the tub with some toys. But nothing past the age of six. In the military, he barely got enough water to rinse the soap from his hair, let alone enough to soak in. But Libba had insisted when heâd come home, with the remnants of some manâs blood spattered across his clothes. Heâd done his best to wash it off his skin but there was nothing to do be done about his clothes. His wifeâs exclamation as soon as he walked through the door had been almost deafening, and Isaac winced as she began to fuss over him. Somehow, Isaac found himself standing in the middle of their master bathroom, half-stripped and watching as Olivia filled the tub with water and some of her bath salts. Fortunately, he had been coherent enough to draw the line at bubbles. She herded him into the tub and Isaac gave an involuntary sigh as he sank under the water, the hot water leeching the tension from his muscles. He felt the water move behind him and felt Libbaâs legs on either side of his body as she sat behind him. âYouâre going to be the death of me, soldier,â she growled. âDunk your head.â Isaac obeyed immediately, sinking under the water briefly to wet his hair. It fell into his face as he resurfaced, but he leaned back against the wall of the tub and let out another sigh as Libbaâs fingers threaded through his hair. The familiar smell of his shampoo filled the air and he closed his eyes, in part to protect them from the suds, and partly because it felt so nice. âFeels nice,â he rumbled as his wifeâs nimble fingers massaged his scalp. He was pretty positive that this was the cleanest his hair had been in a month, but he didnât complain. Just the feeling of her so close, taking care of him like this, it made Isaac warm. She tapped his head again, signaling him to dunk his head once more to get rid of the suds. When he popped back up again, he leaned against his wifeâs leg tiredly, feeling only slightly guilty as the leg of her jeans grew damp. âSorry, Lib. Iâll try not to let it happen again,â he murmured, his voice drowsy. The warm water had stolen the last of his energy, and he let out a loud yawn. Olivia urged him up and into the shower for a quick rinse before pulling him to their bed. He hadnât had dinner yet, but he was so tired that all he wanted to do was sleep, with his arms around his wife. So thatâs what he did.
