the theory:

lucy was in undar for a few weeks in her backstory before finn found her and put her back where she’s supposed to be, but it left psychological marks on her. she got back to find lord business using her song to control the masses, and that caused her to snap and decide to run off and become an angsty rebel. she colored her hair black, donned a badass hoodie and some fingerless gloves, and never looked back. she’s not a master breaker, she wasn’t in undar long enough to learn to move, but long enough to harden her heart

the reasons:

she never learns rex’s backstory, but she gets to undar anyway. how would she know where to go? given rex’s clear sentience, finn probably wouldn’t even know.

she expresses sentience when on bianca’s desk, the same way emmet did in the first one, but also seems a little more aware of the humans, given her awareness of the ourmamageddon-’our mama gets in’ joke

she's the only one in the bin with the fight left in her to try and fix things (if she's been trapped in places like that before...)

she brings rex and emmet back into the fantasy world when she shows up, which, if finn rescued her, is something she might've seen transition and learned how to do
