“Maxey! Stay with me, buddy! It would be bad if you ran off.” Mark called out to his little brother as he held boxes in his arms and bags on his wrists. Christmas shopping at the beginning of the month was a family tradition for the Kolster’s. The mall was already bustling with other mons doing their early shopping as well, so it was pretty crowded. Mark had already bumped into some people, apologizing as best he could behind the stacked boxes.
The young Shinx looked up at his brother with slight worry. “I can carry some of them, ya know? You sure you’re oka-Ah! Sorry!” The little Shinx bumped into someone when he wasn’t looking. Now embarrassed, he clung onto his big brother with a pout.”
“Pfft! Hahaha! See? Stay close to me. Hmm, I think handing you a box or two would help. let’s go over there to those tables so we can take a break. My wrists are starting to hurt.” He smiled amid his pain and the two of them briskly walked through the traffic of people to the open area to set the boxes on a table. One of the boxes moved off center and clattered to the floor. “Agh! no!” He yelped and stooped down to recover the item, breathing a sigh of relief when the present was unharmed. Chuckling to himself, the Luxray placed the package on top of the boxes and sighed.
“That was a close one. Good thing it wasn’t that box on the bottom. Marsha would be mad if her present got broken.” He plopped down in the chair, and swung his legs over the edge since they didn’t touch the ground. “We made good time. All the tables are occupied now... Hm? Brother, someone’s coming over here, scoot the boxes over a bit!”
“Hn?” Mark raised his head to see a tall figure approaching the table. With a small push, the presents were moved to one side of the table, allowing the other person to place their items on the flat surface. Mark chuckled and decided to make small talk. “I bet those were heavy, heheh. Christmas shopping is such a joy isn’t it?” He rolled his eyes with a hint of sarcasm to his voice. “I’d say you got your hands full this year, heheheh.”
