-The two first met in 2267 (Earth Years)/10 BBY when Sybok's shuttle overtaken by a mysterious magnetic storm that transported him into the Skyriver Galaxy (The Star Wars Universe). Specifically, Endor.

-It was Charal and the Sanyassan Marauders were the ones Sybok had first met. Had Sybok not used his telepathic powers against Terak (the Marauders' leader), the Vulcan would've been killed. Instead, a "healed" Terak took Sybok in as member of the clan.

-At first, Charal was weary of Sybok. But, as time went on, the pair would become close. Not only that, they'd become romantically involved.

-During the nights when all were asleep, Sybok and Charal would get out of the Marauder's Stronghold to venture out into the wilderness. All while getting to know one another.

-Of all the things they had bonded over was being pariahs growing up. Sybok went against his stoic Vulcan upbringing to embrace emotion while looking for the mythical haven known as "Sha-Ka-Ree". From forming a cult based around this notions, the Vulcan High Council had Sybok exiled. Charal, meanwhile, was a Dathomarian human Nightsister (basically a Force-Witch) who, since childhood, was enslaved by the Zabraks. Specifically by Mother Talzin. Though seen as the "weakling" among the Zabraks, Charal wanted to feed her megalomania by stealing the sacred ring, the Talisman Of The Raven. Going through with her plan when the Sanyassan Marauders were visiting Dathomir; a "great" way to escape.

-In time, Sybok and Charal would have a son named "Ryu". Born in 2269/8 BBY, little Ryu was born a bit premature. As Vulcan and Human genes are incompatable (even Sybok's half-brother, Spock, had to be incubated in tubes), Charal had to use the Force in order to carry her child to term. This left her bedridden.

-Yet, Ryu was born in the very shuttle Sybok had crash landed in. To avoid any harm done by Terak, Sybok and Charal had left the Marauders. But not without Charal forcing herself to give the Talisman Of The Raven to Terak to pay for her freedom.

-The family of three had made that shuttle their home until Ryu was about 4 years old. Getting more frustrated by their predicament (especially with the failed attempts in fixing the shuttle), Charal decided to take a then-sick Ryu and return to the Marauders.

-Heartbroken, Sybok would continue to work on the shuttle until he had finally succeeded. A couple months after the departure of his beloved love and their son, Sybok get into his fixed shuttle and left for the stars. Eventually, he'd find a wormhole that would take him back to the Milky Way.

-As for Charal and Ryu, they'd stay with the Marauders until 2280/3 ABY when an incident left the Marauders defeated, Terak killed and Charal being stuck in her raven form thanks to the Talisman Of The Raven being destroyed.

-Thankfully, in 2281/4 ABY, shortly after The Fall Of The Empire, Ryu and Charal would be discovered by a Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa an Han Solo. Long story short, Luke had helped Charal change back into her human form while Ryu became one of Luke's students. Not only that, a reformed Charal would help Luke in any way she could. Even if she would butt heads with Han and Leia.

-No. Sybok never used his mind tricks on Charal. With her still being a Nightsister, it'd be difficult anyway.

-The name "Ryu" was Sybok's idea. He wanted something after his late mother, T'Rea.

-Sybok had told Charal of Sarek, Amanda and Spock. And through mind-melds, Charal knew what they had looked like the last time Sybok had seen them. As a result, Charal only saw Spock when the latter was little boy.
