can i say that i love coming to your blog and see you ship steve w almost everyone but dont hate on sharon, the only ship i like was steggy but shippers annoy me a lot lately and theyre awful to sharon, i dont even like staron but sometimes the wank is too ridiculous, or things like that hc going around where steve wants to die to see peggy again and have their dance but he only stays strong cause that would make peggy proud but in the inside he wants to die to be w her, like what?
Thank you! I consider that a tremendous compliment because I really do try (brief and thankfully rare losses of temper notwithstanding - I’m only human and occasionally the abundance of hate will get to me) to keep my blog on the positive side of things. I mean, it’s no hardship not to dis Sharon because I actually really like Sharon and the Staron pairing (as a huge Captain America fan I have a special place in my heart for all of Capfam, from Steve to Sam to Bucky to Sharon and yes, Bernie, Rachel, Arnie and Peggy as well), but even if I didn’t I wouldn’t go out of my way to bash because I truly don’t want this blog to be about that. I would rather celebrate the things I like, not dwell on things I don’t (I have a Spencer exception to that, I very much dislike Nick Spencer and everything he’s doing to the Captain America franchise and I will continue to be vocal about that, mostly because it goes beyond favorite character or preferred pairings, it’s an issue of morality).
Fandom is an escape for so many, a little pocket to squee over characters and forget, for just a little while, the day-to-day stresses of life. Reading hate is just as exhausting as dealing with outside stress. So I work really hard to limit any character/pairing negativity here and I love that you noticed that.
And I don’t believe in shipwars. They’re ridiculous. Utterly and completely ridiculous. Blah. I have no idea why the concept of ‘different strokes for different folks’ is so hard for so many to grasp, but it’s very troubling that it’s not grasped.
