One of the things that the show does right is that it is realistic when it comes to character development and growth. They learn their lessons, and they grow, but this doesn't happen all at once, and EVEN if they do learn the lesson they still might "regress" to old behaviors. And I love this because it's so human and realistic and to mea at least, it never feels out of character when this happens. It's natural.
I totally agree.
But I think sometimes it’s really hard to swallow as an audience, because we’re so used to seeing our heroes painted in this idealistic light where they always make the right decision and everything turns out right and the good are rewarded and the bad are defeated. But along with the realistic psychological development, they are kind of realistic about the good guys not always winning. And maybe what the good guys have to do in order to win sometimes, and how it makes them LESS good.

I think that Lxa is a complex antagonist for the skypeople and Clarke, who was written to show that the grounders were not what they seemed, were, in fact, sympathetic, and were just as human as the sky people. aka, more alike than different.
I think that Lxa is also a character who plays with being the appearance of one thing while being something else in reality. She is VERY much about glamour, and looking the part of Warrior Queen. Her persona is very important to her, as is her legacy. She is an unreliable narrator who, I think, lies to herself about her own feelings and her excuses. She makes excuses for her lack of honor. Honor is a thing that is important in their world, and she is dishonorable as is mentioned in canon.
I believe that Lxa represents a shadow self to Clarke, who is the main character. Lxa is who Clarke could become. This is not a good thing. But it means that Clarke really connects with her and understands her and wants to learn from her and is attracted to her. She is a soulmate because they have a true connection. A soulmate, not the one and only true love. She is a person who affects her quickly and deeply at a fundamental level, but their love story is doomed because they are on opposite sides and these differences are irreconcilable as long as L puts the skypeople at risk. Which she never stopped doing.
L, as a love interest, is ALSO an antagonist to Clarke’s character development because she keeps Clarke from her own character development, isolates her from her people and convinces her that who she is is fundamentally wrong. She’s not, though. Clarke is powerful on her own, and she never should have been told to be like Lxa. Their two ways of leading are incompatible and when they start being influenced by the other, they both get weaker.
Looking at the show from a CL perspective, I understand how beautiful the relationship is, but the CL perspective seems to prioritize what L wants at the expense of Clarke’s story and character development and goals, and therefore, since I am following the story from Clarke’s POV, I cannot ship CL. I believe that the CL perspective is L centric and invalidates 80% of the story in favor of L, and is, therefore an inaccurate interpretation of The 100.
As for being a hero, I believe that while L is NOT the hero of The 100, nor are the grounders the protagonists, it is entirely possible to see the story as IF they are the heroes. And IF L is a heroic character, she fits the trope of the “Tragic Hero,” who is a superior character who starts out with all the power and then, through their tragic flaws, like hubris and lack of honor, fall from power and lose everything that they fought for. Like a Macbeth.

My story is meant to be full of action, but I actually rarely talk about that, and most of my drawings are of the characters just sort of chilling out, so I feel like my characters abilities aren’t really that well known.
But here’s one fact I feel that even I forget about from time to time:
Quil is studying shape shifting magic so he can turn into monsteres and animals. He’s been at it for a long time.
Unfortunately all he’s managed to master is the ability to turn into small birds and shelled reptiles.
His little sister has made much more progress than he has in only half the time.
