I broke down the shapes of my intern design. because I was bored.
all of their shapes have curves but always end in clear, sharp, points.

I WANNA TALK ABOUT THE CONTRAST BETWEEN AIKA AND ZIRA'S DESIGNS!!!
This is from a magical girl series by artist Kiana Mai. And Ilovethemilovethemilovethemilovethem AAAAAAA If you're not familiar with it. It's kind of an anti-mahou shoujo. It's like, what the inside of my brain looks like at this point. Frilly outfits with swear words, it rocks.
I love contrasting character designs so. Yay yippee yay
Stripes on Zira's sleeves vs. Aika's stripe on the torso of the shirt
Zira's braids vs. Aika's star buns. They both share star shapes, but Zira's are in the negative space of their braids and Aika's are actually positive space. Also Zira's braids at the bottom of her head vs. Aika's are at the top of her head
CLOTHING COLOR PALETTES! Both have complimentary color palettes (colors opposite to each other on the color wheel), but Aika's colors blue and yellow are more vibrant than Zira's purple and green, also reflecting their respective personalities. Zira is withdrawn, self-conscious, while Aika is bold and extroverted. I also want to point out that their colors together look like this on the color wheel.
(Just pretend that the in-between colors arent there.) OMG THEIR COLORS ARE ALL NEXT TO EACH OTHER THAT'S SO CUTE!!!
4. The clothing itself! Aika's has lots of short sleeves, shorts, etc. while Zira has long sleeves, jeans, lots of layers. Also:
(the lines are reallllllly bad they're about as straight as Aika) Anyway, unless I did the splitting wrong, you can see that the clothes split Zira's design up into longer sections than Aika's, which also feels like a reflection of their personalities. Longer shapes always felt more reserved than short shapes to me, idk why.
5. Moreover, Aika has spikey parts (her the bottom of her hair) at the top of her design, while Zira has spikey parts at the bottom (the folds of their jeans)
Individual design stuff:
I like how Zira has a chain in her regular design that looks like pearls, and that Aika has a pearl crown in her magical girl design. It's also neat that several areas of Aika's normal design translates into her magical girl design. i.e., her shoes, the undyed bits of her hair, her earrings change shape... AND!!! ZIRA'S BUNNY SHIRT IS ACTUALLY MY FAVORITE THING BECAUSE!!! IN CERTAIN MYTHOLOGIES, RABBITS ARE CLOSELY ASSOCIATED WITH THE MOON!!! AND ZIRA HAS LIKE A MOON THEME RIGHT!! AND ALSO THE CIVILIAN NAME OF MOON SAILOR SAILOR MOON IS USAGI, WHICH MEANS RABBIT. so anyway, Zira is the most moon rabbit ever
Also WATCH THE PILOT. DO IT NOW.
April saw a lot of new designs for the channel + I liked this style of making refs so I figured it was time to release the designs for some of the new speakers + notes on them
The character design notes for Dark Animus (Animus's Dark Garden avatar). Here, you get to see all the contemptably pretentious metaphor and symbolism forcefully jammed into every Mallory Bash design!
wip for the artfight i forgot existed until yesterday yippee
i don't know how this works. help me

Noyes family designs: part two
Considering the book that they’re in, these two are a surprisingly functional couple, likely due to the completely mutual indifference between them.
There are some moments in which I forget about Shem’s existence entirely, but that is never the case for Hannah. She fascinates me much like a washing machine fascinates my cat. Hannah is like that posh, sophisticated rich mean girl from those Disney Channel movies who grows up to major in Creative Writing, only to have her childhood dreams of becoming a famous author crushed when she can only find a job at an Applebee’s.
Her signature colour for most of the book is white, but I wanted to draw her in earth tone colours; inspired by Dani from Midsommar, who goes from earthy colours to white as she gets indoctrinated into a cult, which is essentially what happens to Hannah.
I have a note page on my phone to help me with designing characters; most notably the Redacted boys
Often these notes are at ungodly hours of the night and it shows
notes for how I'm planning to simplify his design for my Forgotten identity AU
his design is funny and i wanna make it make sense but also keep it similar to his original design cause, i think its pretty good. (i think he's got a good silhouette)
