As this is my second chapter review on a series published in Weekly Shounen Jump, it’s yet another short chapter. Is it a coincidence or this issue happened to be short chapters for everyone? Then again, there’s too many series currently and it also has a one-shot (or maybe two?) for another series (a damn good one by the way). I believe the damaging point is the fact that it’s going on a break next week. That and this chapter is more of a setup for things to come.

This is like watching the last ten minute of a T.V. series’ season finale, where it goes over every bits and pieces of nearly all ongoing scenarios. It was only missing a scene with Luffy, but the last chapter covered it. The battle with Zoro and Kamazo has ended and it was fun while lasted. Sadly for Zoro, he passes out as Gyukimaru grins at him for some reasons. Maybe he is impressed by his performance? Or maybe the fact he took his sword, presuming before the battle. “Wide Open!”

The next couple of pages are bunch of what’s happening currently and what to expect next. Each page focus on a different scene that does connect altogether since it all aligns with the symbol of resistance. It starts off with Kin’emon reuniting with Inurashi after handing over the symbol. The problem is the symbol has been exposed, which transition to the Flower Capital setting to showcase citizens under arrest. It sounds like it has become pointless but the rumor is spreading and that’s going to be pretty effective down the road. Not to mention, Udon is about to have its own prison break soon. Lastly, Komurasaki’s wake was cancelled and the funeral will be held tomorrow. Something is still shady with Kyoshiro.

It slows down with an amusing scene at Ebisu Town. I laughed at Sanji’s face after a brutal (and deservingly so) beat down from Nami. If it wasn’t for his eyebrow, I wouldn’t guess that it was him. Hilarious. Shinobu was losing her cool over the mission; even going back to her old root of a shinobi such as, “all hostages will be silenced.” Well, that was true back then. Still, pretty hardcore. I do feel bad for her. She has to suffer this long and to wait for a new hope only to fail will be the grandest “screw you” she will ever have. One last tie-in to the symbol is that stranger who was with Zoro, Tonoyasu. I don’t know what his deal is, but the acknowledgement of the symbol and its meaning makes me curious where we go from here.

The main highlight is the last segment with Zoro and that woman, who looks like Komurasaki without the make-up. That’s my assumption. Her personality differs greatly however as she is charming in nature than beauty. Hate me if you want, but I thought O-Toko’s joke was funny. I honestly didn’t know until now. It’s like Gintama mixed up with Kintama; best to not to know. Supposedly, Gyukimaru is a mysterious guy that appears when an armed man tries to cross the Bandit Bridge. If only there was a helicopter. The real highlight within the scene is the reveal of that lady. She is Hiyori, Momonosuke’s sister, and she is searching for him.

There are clues that highly suggest that Hiyori is Komurasaki. The timing is rather convenient for her to appear to bump into Zoro after Kyoshiro “slayed” her. Her wake was cancelled, meaning her body is yet confirmed; only her funeral will seal the deal unless she can shadow clone herself. Lastly, the toad oil is a huge hint on how she was able to recover quickly, even though she still has blood on her. As for her design, well, make-up can do wonders. If it’s not her, that is one hell of red herring then.
